Adroit’s proSONDE platform provides real-time data delivery, giving operators a clear, real-time view of water conditions.

Adroit recently launched proSONDE,a real-time, multi-parameter water quality monitoring system designed for continuous environmental monitoring in rivers, lakes, stormwater networks, and coastal environments.

The Adroit team reports strong interest from councils and infrastructure operators looking for reliable, real-time water-quality insights.

A key reason for the enthusiastic response is the long-standing challenge of monitoring key water contaminants such as E. coli.

Historically, testing has relied on grab sampling and lab analysis, often taking 24 - 48 hours to receive results. Any delay makes it difficult to respond quickly to changing conditions and gaps in data as to what is happening in the water between samples.

ProSONDE addresses this by enabling continuous, in-situ monitoring, supported by Adroit’s telemetry and uploaded via the Spark Cat-M1 network or Iridium satellite connection. Together, the system delivers near real-time visibility, allowing users to track trends, identify emerging issues, and make faster, more informed decisions.

This represents a significant shift from periodic, reactive testing to a more proactive, data-driven approach. Instead of relying on delayed snapshots, stakeholders can now view a continuous stream of information, improving confidence in day-to-day management, as well as historical data for planning and setting thresholds for public alerts.

With an increasing number of incidents impacting water quality across New Zealand, the early interest in proSONDE highlights a growing demand for monitoring solutions that are not only accurate, but reliable and resilient.
