Adroit’s New Portable Base Stand Streamlines Worksite Environmental Monitoring

Adroit Product Manager Jay Meissner says the new portable base stand unblocks a common customer challenge, simplifying how and where monitoring hardware is deployed.
“We know what the sensor does – it collects data. But how we get that sensor to where we need it is half the story,” he says.

Traditionally, clients have been asked to supply a concrete block or pour a fixed pad to support the Adroit Smart Post and sensor kit – often including a solar panel. The problem is that this part of the process often relies on third-party suppliers or co-ordinating additional site preparation, adding challenges to the installation process.

“This new portable base stand effectively replaces the concrete block, eliminating those additional installation challenges,” Meissner says.

The portable base stand was developed in response to real-world challenges and client feedback.

“It’s an amalgamation of different ideas that came from our partners and customers,” says Meissner.

“For example, one client had developed their own baseplate that could be picked up by a forklift - another needed a frame that could be anchored with tether cables for stability. We brought all those concepts together to build a solution that’s now part of our standard installation package,” he says.

In practice, the portable base stand delivers significant on-site advantages. It features adjustable feet, allowing it to sit securely on uneven ground, and slots for temporary fence weights filled with water, sand or concrete.

These stabilisers ensure the system stays firmly in place, even in exposed conditions. “If stability is a concern, you just stack the weights on. To be honest, that thing’s not moving - it’s like a block at that point,” Meissner says.

The frame is also designed with portability in mind. When disassembled, it’s light enough for one person to carry. “If a customer doesn’t want a portable kit, like they want compliance-level monitoring on a fixed site, this gives them the flexibility to reposition it easily. You can lift the whole thing with a piece of machinery, or move it in parts.”

This innovation supports Adroit’s broader focus on providing complete, fit-for-purpose monitoring systems. “We now do noise, dust, weather, vibration and gas, all on one unit,” says Meissner.

“And we’ve invested in how these sensors are installed, from noise booms to brackets to weather station mounts. It’s about offering a complete, compliant package that works as expected.”

The portable base stand also reflects Adroit’s strategy for supporting rental and short-term deployments.
“A lot of our construction clients rent everything - equipment, machinery, site tools. They’re not looking to invest in permanent installations. This new frame makes it easy for hire companies to offer fully compliant monitoring packages that are quick to deploy, low-touch, and easy to relocate,” Meissner says.

While the portable base stand might seem like a simple addition, Meissner says it represents a meaningful step forward.

“It’s not a big, showcase story, but it shows that we’re innovating. We’re solving real problems and making our solutions easier to use - for our clients and for ourselves.”
