A Year of Real-Time Insight, Proven Performance, and Environmental Leadership
2025 has been a pivotal year for Adroit as real-time environmental intelligence moved from emerging technology to essential infrastructure across Aotearoa. Councils, utilities, quarries, civil contractors, and infrastructure operators increasingly turned to Adroit for accurate real-time monitoring to strengthen safety, resilience, and compliance. Through strong partnerships and field-proven systems, Adroit delivered deployments nationwide that demonstrated the true value of reliable, real-time data.
Here are some of the major achievements and milestones that defined the year.

Winstone Aggregates – Award-Winning Environmental Monitoring Using PMK
One of Adroit’s most significant achievements this year came through its partnership with Winstone Aggregates, which adopted the Portable Monitoring Kit (PMK) across quarry operations to tackle silica and dust exposure. Instead of relying on periodic testing or retrospective reporting, the PMK gave teams live visibility of dust levels in the exact areas where crews were working.
Installed in high-activity zones and connected via Spark’s IoT network, the PMK streamed real-time data into the Adroit Cloud dashboard, allowing supervisors and workers to immediately recognise rising dust levels and adjust activity before conditions became unsafe. For many teams, it was the first time they could clearly see how specific actions, from vehicle movement to material handling, influenced airborne dust throughout the day.
As the system became embedded in daily routines, it became a practical education tool. Workers used the data to understand their impact on air quality, leading to natural behaviour change and clearer communication between crews and management. Over time, this visibility helped strengthen site safety culture and decision-making.
The impact was formally recognised when Winstone Aggregates won an Innovation Award at the 2025? Quarry NZ Awards for its PMK deployment. The award acknowledged the system’s contribution to worker protection, dust-exposure management, and the adoption of real-time monitoring as a frontline safety tool, a clear example of technology improving conditions for the people on site every day.

The network is now one of the most advanced examples of real-time flood-risk intelligence in New Zealand
Hastings District Council – Leading the Way in Flood Protection
Severe weather events have reshaped how councils plan for flood resilience, and Hastings District Council has led the way with its adoption of real-time water-level monitoring. Working with Adroit and using radar-based sensors deployed across flood-prone waterways, the council now receives updates every 15 minutes, increasing during high-risk events, giving significantly earlier visibility of rising levels.
The deployment was supported by Beca, which oversaw modelling, site selection, and integration into council workflows. Spark IoT connectivity ensured rapid, reliable data delivery across all locations.
Following the successful initial rollout, the programme has now expanded into 13 additional sites across the district. The network is now one of the most advanced examples of real-time flood-risk intelligence in New Zealand, providing a scalable model for other councils focused on protecting homes, roads, and communities.

Tiltmeters on Transmission Towers, Transforming Risk Assessment
Another major milestone this year was the deployment of Adroit tiltmeters on transmission towers in partnership with Firstlight Network. After Cyclone Gabrielle caused widespread slips and geotechnical movement in the region, Firstlight required a reliable way to monitor tower stability without relying solely on frequent helicopter inspections and manual assessments.
Adroit’s tiltmeters were installed on towers located in high-risk areas, transmitting precise real-time movement data to Firstlight’s asset management teams. The system provided continuous visibility of tower behaviour, something previously unattainable, and enabled early intervention when even small shifts were detected.
The solution demonstrated how real-time structural monitoring can support national energy resilience, reduce operational costs, and improve safety in regions vulnerable to landslides and extreme weather.

The PMK’s portability, fast setup, and easy redeployment made it ideal for staged work programmes where monitoring locations shift frequently
Pipeline & Civil – PMK Supports Compliance in Sensitive Work Zones
Across the civil construction sector, Adroit’s PMK continued to prove its value.
A major highlight was its role supporting Pipeline & Civil on a sensitive Auckland wastewater upgrade, where environmental limits were tightly controlled. Using PMK units to monitor noise and vibration in real time, the project team could demonstrate compliance to Auckland Council and respond immediately to any exceedances.
The PMK’s portability, fast setup, and easy redeployment made it ideal for staged work programmes where monitoring locations shift frequently. While many clients choose to lease units for project-based needs, Pipeline & Civil opted to purchase their PMKs outright, a testament to the system’s ongoing value for their operational and environmental responsibilities.
This case study became one of the clearest examples this year of real-time monitoring helping contractors navigate consent conditions confidently and transparently.
A Year of Momentum and a Strong Platform for 2026
Across quarries, waterways, civil sites, and critical infrastructure, 2025 reinforced a clear trend: real-time environmental intelligence is now central to how New Zealand manages risk, compliance, and resilience. Adroit’s systems were tested in diverse environments, through weather events, ground movement, heavy industry, and sensitive urban infrastructure, and consistently delivered reliable, actionable insights.
Backed by strong partnerships, proven hardware, and nationwide deployments, Adroit enters 2026 positioned as one of the country’s leading providers of environmental intelligence — helping Aotearoa build safer communities, more resilient infrastructure, and smarter, data-driven operations.
